Envy
Envy
Afgunst, 1552
Heinrich Aldegrever
Embodied in a dramatic scene, Envy takes the form of a woman seated atop a monstrous creature. In her right hand, she holds a banner depicting two serpents. To the upper right, a coat of arms with a scorpion sits beneath the shadow of a bat. Below this captivating scene, a two-line Latin inscription adds an air of mystery. This piece is the second print in an intriguing series of seven.
