The Frederiksplein, Amsterdam, during the Entry of Queen Wilhelmina, 5 September 1898, 1898
Otto Eerelman
This captivating scene captures a significant historical moment in Amsterdam on September 5, 1898. Queen Wilhelmina and Emma are portrayed seated in a cream calèche carriage, drawn by a team of eight horses. They are escorted by horsemen both at the front and rear of the carriage. On the right side of the painting, there's a covered stand filled with invited guests. The procession is seen entering Utrechtsestraat, with the grand Paleis voor Volksvlijt forming a magnificent backdrop.
