This is the second plate featuring 12 geometric figures used in fortification design. It is plate number 3 in a collection consisting of a total of 276 numbered plates depicting renowned strong cities and fortresses, created during the War of the Spanish Succession. Most of these plates are copied from anonymous French works found in 'Les forces de l'Europe' and 'Le theatre de la guerre, dans les Pays-Bas,' originally published by Nicolas de Fer in Paris (1693-1697) during the Nine Years' War. The title and inscriptions are in French.
