This captivating scene unfolds on the 28th of March, 1830, as Prince Diponegoro is handed over to Major François de Stuers following his arrest by Lieutenant General Hendrik Merkus de Kock. The arrest took place in the official residence of the Resident of Kedu in Magelang, Central Java, depicted on the right side of the painting.
