This captivating scene unfolds on the 28th of March, 1830, as Prince Diponegoro is handed over to Major François de Stuers following his arrest by Lieutenant General Hendrik Merkus de Kock. The arrest took place in the official residence of the Resident of Kedu in Magelang, Central Java, depicted on the right side of the painting. On the left, Dutch soldiers and the carriage that will transport the prince under Major De Stuers' escort are shown. In the foreground to the left, the prince's followers are seen with their weapons laid on the ground.
