This riveting depiction of The Battle of Waterloo, dated June 18, 1815, captures the battlefield at a critical moment when English commander Wellington learns of the impending Prussian aid. On the left foreground, we see the injured Prince William of Orange being carried away. Central to the painting are commanders and other officers on horseback, while to the right, wounded and dead soldiers lay on the ground. The background is ablaze with ongoing combat. The painting also features numerous distinguished figures such as Lieutenant-General Lord Uxbridge, Sir Rowland Hill, Staff Colonel Sir William Delancey, Major-General George Cooke, Colonel Harvey, and Colonel Campbell among others.
