About this piece

An allegory featuring an Italian soothsayer presenting remedies for the French disease. To the left, a Jesuit and a priest watch in horror. On either side of the scene, there are eight medallions depicting the battle between France and its allies through animal figures. Below the main image, there are three columns of text in Dutch. This artwork is part of a series of satirical prints targeting Louis XIV during the War of Spanish Succession (circa 1701-1713).
