About this piece
Adonis, accompanied by his two loyal hunting dogs, bids farewell to the naked Venus as he departs for a hunt. In the bottom left corner, Cupid observes the scene. The action unfolds in a picturesque mountainous landscape populated with satyrs, nymphs, and mountain goats. In the distance, a castle stands majestically. On the right, two doves drink peacefully from a stream.
